Simple Indian Kohlrabi Sabzi

  • 300 g kohlrabi (knol khol) peeled and chopped into small cubes
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder adjust as per taste
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/4 cup water for cooking

Method
 

  1. Wash, peel and chop kohlrabi into small cubes.
  2. Heat oil in a kadai or frying pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add chopped kohlrabi, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt. Stir well to coat the pieces with spices.
  4. Pour in 1/4 cup water, mix, cover the pan with a lid, and cook on low-medium heat for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally to avoid sticking.
  5. When kohlrabi becomes tender and water dries up, stir gently once more. Switch off the heat. Your simple kohlrabi sabzi is ready.

Notes

You can add fresh coriander leaves on top for extra flavor. Serve hot with roti or rice. To keep it lighter, avoid adding extra oil.
