Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 400 grams sweet potato washed and cut into wedges (skin on for extra fiber)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder optional, for Indian flavour and colour
  • ½ tsp chilli powder or red chilli flakes, adjust to spice preference
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt or to taste

Equipment

  • Air fryer

Method

  1. Wash sweet potatoes thoroughly and scrub to remove dirt. Pat dry and keep the skin on for extra fibre.
  2. Cut each sweet potato into thick wedges — aim for similar size so they cook evenly.
  3. In a large bowl, drizzle olive oil over wedges. Add turmeric, chilli powder, ground black pepper and salt. Toss well to coat every wedge evenly with oil and spices.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C (≈ 400 °F). Place the seasoned wedges in a single layer in the basket. Don’t overcrowd — cook in batches if needed.
  5. Air-fry for 15 minutes, turning the wedges halfway through so they cook evenly and get crisp edges.
  6. Check wedges: they should be crispy outside and soft inside when pierced with a fork. If needed, air-fry 2–3 minutes more.
  7. Serve hot with a dip (like green chutney or plain yogurt) or enjoy as a healthy snack or side.

Notes

If you like more Indian flavour, you can sprinkle a pinch of chaat masala or crushed coriander leaves after air-frying. For best texture, serve immediately — reheated wedges may lose some crispiness.
