  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)
  • 2 tbsp whole wheat flour (for binding)
  • 1 tsp ajwain helps digestion
  • 1/2 tsp haldi
  • 1/2 tsp salt adjust to taste
  • Water as required to knead
  • 1 tsp oil for kneading

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling board and rolling pin
  • Tawa

Method
 

  1. Add besan, whole wheat flour, ajwain, haldi, and salt to a mixing bowl.
  2. Slowly add water and start kneading. Besan dough can crack, so add water little by little.
  3. Add oil and knead again until the dough becomes smooth and soft.
  4. Divide the dough into two balls and dust lightly with flour.
  5. Roll each ball gently into a medium-thick roti. Move slowly to avoid cracks.
  6. Heat a tawa and place the roti. Cook on medium heat until brown spots appear.
  7. Flip and cook the other side. Press edges lightly for even cooking.
  8. Serve hot with curd or any light sabzi.

Notes

Besan roti is best served fresh. If the dough feels too soft or sticky, add a spoon of wheat flour for structure.
