  • 2 cups Makhana (fox nuts) plain, unroasted
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 2 tbsp Jaggery powder adjust to taste
  • 1.5 tbsp Cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 1 tsp Vanilla essence optional
  • 2 tbsp Water for melting jaggery

Method
 

  1. Heat a pan on low flame and dry roast the makhana for 5 to 6 minutes until they turn crisp.
  2. Remove the makhana and keep aside. In the same pan, add ghee and let it melt.
  3. Add jaggery powder and water. Stir until the jaggery melts into a smooth syrup.
  4. Lower the flame and mix in the cocoa powder. Stir well to make a thick chocolate coating.
  5. Add roasted makhana back into the pan. Toss gently so each makhana gets coated well.
  6. Cook for 1 minute, switch off the flame, and let the makhana cool fully so the coating sets.

Notes

Store Chocolate Makhana in an airtight container for up to 1 week. It works well as a mid-meal snack and helps beat sweet cravings without excess sugar.
