Homemade Almond Milk

  • 1 cup raw almonds prefer unroasted
  • 3 cups water for blending
  • optional: 1–2 dates or 1 tsp jaggery powder for sweetness
  • optional: 1/4 tsp cardamom powder for flavour

Equipment

  • Strainer or muslin cloth
  • bowl

Method
 

  1. Soak the almonds overnight or for at least 6 to 8 hours.
  2. Drain the water and peel the almonds. Peels come off easily once soaked.
  3. Add peeled almonds and 3 cups fresh water to a blender.
  4. Blend till smooth and creamy.
  5. Strain the mixture using a fine strainer or muslin cloth to get smooth almond milk.
  6. Add dates or jaggery and cardamom if you want light sweetness and flavour.
  7. Store in an airtight bottle in the fridge and use within 2 to 3 days.

Notes

You can use leftover almond pulp in roti dough, smoothies or energy balls to avoid waste.
