Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 medium apple washed, peeled, cored and chopped roughly
  • 1 cup milk boiled, cooled and chilled (you can use low-fat or toned milk)
  • 1 tsp sugar optional — depending on sweetness of apple
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon powder optional — adds nice warm flavour
  • ice cubes optional — if you like chilled shake

Equipment

  • blender

Method

  1. Wash the apple thoroughly. Peel if you prefer a smooth texture and chop the apple into small pieces. Remove core and seeds.
  2. Put the chopped apple into a blender jar. Add sugar (if using) and the cinnamon powder (optional).
  3. Pour in chilled, boiled & cooled milk. Add a few ice cubes if you like a cold drink.
  4. Blend everything until smooth and creamy. Check the consistency — if too thick, you can add a little more milk and blend again.
  5. Pour the milkshake into a glass and serve immediately for best taste and colour.

Notes

Use sweet variety apples like Fuji, Gala or Honeycrisp for natural sweetness. If you prefer extra creaminess you can soak a few almonds (about 3-4) for 15 mins, peel and grind them along with apple and milk. Serve immediately — apple oxidises and the shake may turn colour over time.
