  • 1 cup moong dal (split yellow lentils) soaked for 4 hours
  • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup capsicum finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp tomato finely chopped
  • 1 tsp green chilli finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp salt adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp oil for cooking each moonglet

  • Non-stick pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • blender
  • Spatula

Method
 

  1. Drain soaked moong dal and blend it with 2-3 tbsp water to make a thick, fluffy batter.
  2. Pour the batter into a bowl. Add onion, capsicum, tomato, green chilli, coriander, turmeric, red chilli, cumin and salt. Mix well.
  3. Heat a non-stick pan on medium and add a few drops of oil.
  4. Pour one ladle of batter and spread lightly to keep it thick. Cook for 3–4 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. Flip gently and cook the other side until crisp.
  6. Serve hot with green chutney or tomato chutney.

Notes

For extra crispiness, keep the batter thick. Do not add too much water while grinding.
