  • 1 cup Besan (gram flour)
  • 1 medium Cucumber, grated do not squeeze water
  • 2 tbsp Onion, finely chopped optional
  • 1 tbsp Coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tsp Green chili, chopped adjust to taste
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • to taste Salt
  • as needed Water to make batter
  • 1 tsp Oil for cooking

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Tawa or non-stick pan
  • grater

Method
 

  1. Add besan, grated cucumber, onion, coriander, green chili, turmeric, cumin and salt to a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix everything and add water little by little to make a smooth, medium-thick batter.
  3. Heat a tawa on medium flame, grease it lightly with oil.
  4. Pour a ladle of batter and spread gently like a small chilla.
  5. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the base turns golden, then flip and cook the other side.
  6. Serve hot with green chutney or curd.

Notes

Do not squeeze the cucumber water, as it helps make a soft chilla. You can add grated carrots or spinach for extra nutrition.
