Easy Homemade Coriander Chutney

  • 1 cup fresh coriander leaves (cilantro), tightly packed (about 50 grams)
  • 2 teaspoons green chillies, chopped adjust to taste
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, roughly chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1/4 tsp roasted cumin powder (optional, adds flavour)
  • salt to taste salt
  • 2 tablespoons water or as needed for blending

Method
 

  1. Wash coriander leaves thoroughly. Pat dry and roughly chop coriander, green chillies and ginger.
  2. Add chopped coriander, green chillies, ginger, lemon juice, roasted cumin powder (if using), salt and 1 tablespoon water into a blender or mixer jar.
  3. Blend until smooth. Add more water (up to another tablespoon) if the mixture is too thick, to get a fine chutney consistency.
  4. Taste the chutney and adjust salt, lemon juice or chillies as per your preference.
  5. Transfer the chutney into a clean bowl or jar. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 4–5 days in an airtight container.

Notes

You can adjust chilli quantity depending on spice tolerance. For a milder version, use fewer chillies, or deseed them. This chutney pairs well with paratha, dosa, idli, snacks or rice.
