  • 2 slices Whole wheat bread
  • 1 tbsp Butter (softened) use low-fat for a healthier option
  • 3 cloves Garlic (finely minced)
  • 1 tsp Mixed herbs or oregano
  • 1 tbsp Fresh coriander or parsley (finely chopped)
  • 1 pinch Salt adjust to taste

Equipment

  • Oven or Stove-top Tawa

Method
 

  1. Mix softened butter, minced garlic, herbs, coriander and salt in a small bowl to make a smooth garlic spread.
  2. Spread the garlic mixture evenly on one side of each bread slice.
  3. To bake: Preheat oven to 180°C and bake for 8-10 minutes until crisp. To cook on tawa: Place bread on hot tawa, cover and cook on low flame for 3-4 minutes until edges turn golden.
  4. Slice and serve hot with soup or as a healthy evening snack.

Notes

You can add a light sprinkle of mozzarella for kids. Using whole wheat bread improves fibre and keeps the recipe healthier.
