  • 2 cups puffed rice (murmura) use plain, unsalted
  • 1 small tomato finely chopped
  • 1 small cucumber finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder adjust as per taste
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp black salt (kala namak) or regular salt adjust to taste
  • 1 lemon juice juice of half a lemon

  • Large mixing bowl

Method
 

  1. Take a large mixing bowl and add the puffed rice (murmura).
  2. Add the finely chopped tomato, cucumber and red onion to the bowl.
  3. Add chopped coriander leaves for freshness.
  4. Sprinkle roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, chaat masala and black salt (or regular salt) over the mixture.
  5. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over everything and toss gently but thoroughly so that spices coat the puffed rice evenly.
  6. Taste and adjust salt or spice as needed. Serve immediately to keep the puffed rice crunchy.

Notes

For extra crunch and nutrition, you can add a small handful of roasted peanuts or sprouted moong beans. Avoid adding sev or farsan if you want to keep this light and healthy.
