Hibiscus Tea

  • 2 tbsp Dried hibiscus petals
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 tsp Honey or jaggery (optional) Adjust to taste
  • 1 slice Lemon Adds natural freshness

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Heat water in a saucepan on medium flame.
  2. Once it starts to boil, add dried hibiscus petals.
  3. Let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until the water turns deep red.
  4. Turn off the flame and cover the lid. Let it steep for 5 minutes.
  5. Strain the tea into cups.
  6. Add honey or jaggery if you prefer sweetness, and finish with a slice of lemon.

Notes

You can serve this tea hot or chilled. For a summer drink, cool the tea and add ice. Avoid adding honey to very hot tea to retain nutrients.
