  • 1 cup rolled oats lightly roasted for better flavour
  • 3 tbsp jaggery adjust to taste
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1 tbsp ghee use small amount for aroma
  • 1 tbsp chopped nuts almonds or cashews
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder

Method
 

  1. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan on low flame and add the rolled oats. Roast for 2 to 3 minutes until they smell nutty.
  2. Pour in the water and stir well so the oats cook evenly.
  3. Once the oats soften, add jaggery and mix until it melts completely.
  4. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the mixture turns thick like halwa.
  5. Add cardamom powder and chopped nuts. Give it a final stir and turn off the flame.

Notes

For extra nutrition, add 1 teaspoon chia seeds or flax seeds while cooking. You can replace jaggery with dates for a sugar-free version.
