  • 1 cup Rolled oats do not use instant oats
  • 3 cups Cold water for blending
  • 1 tsp Jaggery powder optional for light sweetness
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla essence optional
  • 1 pinch Salt balances flavour

  • Fine strainer or muslin cloth

Method
 

  1. Add rolled oats to a bowl and rinse them once quickly to remove any powdery residue.
  2. Drain the oats and add them to a blender along with cold water.
  3. Blend on medium speed for 25 to 30 seconds. Do not over-blend or the milk can become slimy.
  4. Place a strainer or muslin cloth over a bowl and pour the blended mixture. Gently strain without pressing too hard.
  5. Add jaggery powder, vanilla, and salt. Mix well and store the oats milk in a clean bottle.
  6. Refrigerate and use within 3 days. Shake well before each use.

Notes

Use only cold water to avoid slimy texture. Do not over-blend. Best for smoothies, coffee, tea, and cooking.
