Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp saunf (fennel seeds) whole seeds
  • 1 cup water room temperature or lukewarm
  • 1 tsp jaggery (gur) crushed or grated

Equipment

  • glass / jar

Method

  1. Take a clean glass or jar. Add 1 teaspoon saunf (fennel seeds) to 1 cup of water. Let it soak for 2–3 hours (or overnight) till seeds soften and water gets subtle fennel flavour.
  2. After soaking, crush or grate 1 teaspoon of jaggery and add to the water. Stir well until jaggery dissolves completely.
  3. Strain the water through a fine mesh or cloth to remove fennel seeds and any jaggery impurities.
  4. Drink the water fresh — preferably in the morning on an empty stomach, or warm if you like. You can also sip it after meals to support digestion.

Notes

You may optionally warm the water slightly before drinking, but avoid boiling. If you find jaggery taste too mild, you can increase to 1.5 tsp. Do not add refined sugar — jaggery keeps it healthier and adds minerals. People with medical conditions should consult a healthcare provider before regular use.
