  • 1 cup white sesame seeds (til) use hulled seeds for smoother taste
  • 3 cups water adjust for thickness
  • 1 tbsp jaggery or honey optional for sweetness
  • 1 pinch cardamom powder optional

  • Fine strainer or muslin cloth

Method
 

  1. Rinse sesame seeds well under running water to remove dust.
  2. Soak the seeds in water for 3 to 4 hours. This helps with blending and digestion.
  3. Drain the water and add the soaked sesame seeds to a mixer jar.
  4. Add 1 cup of water and blend to a smooth paste.
  5. Add the remaining water and blend again for 30 to 40 seconds.
  6. Strain using a muslin cloth or fine strainer. Press well to extract all the milk.
  7. Stir in jaggery or honey and a pinch of cardamom powder, if using.
  8. Store in the refrigerator and consume within 2 days.

Notes

You can lightly roast the sesame seeds before soaking for a nuttier flavour. For thicker milk, reduce water to 2.5 cups.
