Sweet Potato & Lentil Tikki

  • 1 cup boiled sweet potato, mashed
  • 1/2 cup cooked moong dal (yellow lentils) drained well
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander
  • 1 tsp ginger-chilli paste
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 2 tbsp besan for binding
  • 1 tsp oil for greasing
  • to taste salt

Equipment

  • Pressure cooker
  • Mixing bowl
  • Non-stick pan
  • Masher

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, add mashed sweet potato and cooked moong dal.
  2. Mix in coriander, ginger-chilli paste, chilli powder, cumin powder and salt.
  3. Add besan and combine well to form a soft dough.
  4. Shape small round tikkis with your hands.
  5. Heat a non-stick pan, brush with a little oil and place the tikkis.
  6. Cook on medium flame until golden and crisp on both sides.

Notes

You can air-fry the tikkis for an even lighter version. Add grated carrot or spinach for more nutrients.
