Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 pieces Salmon fillets about 120 g each
  • 2 tbsp Low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Honey or jaggery for natural sweetness
  • 1 tsp Ginger finely grated
  • 1 tsp Garlic finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice fresh
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil optional but adds flavour
  • 1 tsp Black pepper freshly crushed
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Spring onions finely chopped for garnish

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking Tray
  • Mixing bowl
  • Brush or spoon

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C. Line a baking tray with foil or parchment for easy cleaning.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey or jaggery, ginger, garlic, lemon juice, sesame oil, and black pepper to make the teriyaki marinade.
  3. Place the salmon fillets on the tray and brush them generously with the marinade. Let them rest for 5 minutes so the flavours soak in.
  4. Bake the salmon for 12–15 minutes until it flakes easily and turns golden on top.
  5. Remove from the oven, garnish with sesame seeds and spring onions, and serve hot with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables.

Notes

For a stronger flavour, marinate the salmon for 20–30 minutes. Use jaggery for a healthier Indian twist. Avoid overbaking to keep the salmon soft and juicy.
