  • 3 cups finely shredded cabbage
  • 1 tbsp oil any neutral oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 8-10 curry leaves fresh
  • 2 green chillies, slit
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/3 cup fresh grated coconut

Method
 

  1. Heat oil in a kadhai on medium flame and add mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
  2. Add urad dal and fry until light golden.
  3. Add curry leaves and green chillies. Sauté for a few seconds.
  4. Add the shredded cabbage, salt, and turmeric powder. Mix gently.
  5. Cover and cook for 6–8 minutes on low flame until cabbage softens. Stir occasionally.
  6. Add grated coconut, mix well, and cook for 1 more minute. Turn off the flame.

Notes

You can add a pinch of asafoetida for extra flavour. Use fresh coconut for the best taste and texture.
