A healthy and refreshing Indian cucumber raita made with curd, grated cucumber, and simple spices. Perfect with roti, paratha, pulao, or biryani.

  • 1 cup curd (yogurt) fresh and chilled
  • 1 medium cucumber peeled and grated
  • 1/4 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp black salt or regular salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh coriander finely chopped
  • 1 pinch black pepper powder optional

Method
 

  1. Add chilled curd to a mixing bowl and whisk it until smooth.
  2. Squeeze extra water from grated cucumber and add it to the curd.
  3. Mix in roasted cumin powder, black salt, and black pepper.
  4. Add chopped coriander and stir everything well.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve chilled.

Notes

For thicker raita, use hung curd. You can also add chopped mint for extra freshness.
