Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup fresh methi leaves (fenugreek), finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp oil for dough
  • 1 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • to taste salt
  • as needed water for kneading
  • as needed oil or ghee for roasting

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • tawa or flat pan

Method

  1. Add whole wheat flour, chopped methi, oil, ajwain, red chilli powder, turmeric, and salt to a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix everything well so the methi is evenly combined with the flour.
  3. Add water little by little and knead a soft, smooth dough. Rest it for 10 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into equal balls and roll each into a medium-thick paratha using a rolling pin.
  5. Heat a tawa on medium flame and cook each paratha on both sides until golden brown. Apply oil or ghee while roasting.
  6. Serve hot with curd, pickle, or dal.

Notes

Use fresh methi for the best flavor. Reduce chilli if making for kids. You can also add a little curd to make the dough softer.
