Ingredients

Ingredients
  • ½ cup rolled oats old-fashioned or quick oats
  • 1 cup milk or water use milk for creamier texture (cow, almond or soy milk works)

  • 1.5 tbsp natural peanut butter unsweetened, smooth or crunchy
  • pinch cinnamon optional, for flavour

Equipment

  • small pot or saucepan

Method

  1. In a small pot, add the oats and milk (or water). Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. When oats begin to soften (after about 3–4 minutes), add the mashed or sliced banana and continue stirring until oats are cooked and mixture thickens (about 1–2 more minutes).
  3. Turn off heat, stir in the peanut butter until fully melted and mixed through.
  4. If using, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top and mix gently. Pour into a bowl and serve warm.

Notes

Use natural peanut butter without added sugar or hydrogenated oils for healthiest results. You can swap cow-milk with almond/soy/oat milk for a lighter, dairy-free version.
