  • 3 cups puffed rice (murmura)
  • 1 tbsp oil preferably olive oil or groundnut oil
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 6-8 leaves curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp mixed herbs fresh coriander + mint, finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper freshly crushed
  • 1/4 tsp salt adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp lemon juice optional

Equipment

  • Kadhai or non-stick pan

Method
 

  1. Heat oil in a pan on low flame. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  2. Add curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds until crisp.
  3. Add turmeric, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Add puffed rice and toss gently for 2–3 minutes until they turn crisp again.
  5. Switch off the flame. Add chopped herbs and mix lightly.
  6. Add lemon juice if you like a slight tang. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

Notes

You can add roasted peanuts or chana dal for extra crunch and protein. Adjust spices to your taste.
