
Instant Upma Mix
A quick and healthy instant upma mix made with roasted sooji, dal and simple spices. Perfect for busy mornings or travel.

- Heat a pan on low flame and dry roast the sooji for 4 to 5 minutes until it smells nutty. Remove and keep aside.
- In the same pan, add chana dal, urad dal and roast for 2 minutes on low flame.
- Add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Let them crackle on low heat.
- Mix in turmeric, chilli flakes, peanuts and salt. Stir well.
- Add the roasted sooji back into the pan. Combine everything evenly.
- Cool the mixture fully and store in an airtight jar for up to 1 month.
- To prepare upma: Add 1/2 cup instant mix to a pan and pour 1 cup hot water. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until soft.
Notes
You can add dried carrots, peas or onions to the mix for extra nutrition. Always keep the flame low to avoid burning.
