Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 cup Jowar flour fresh and fine
  • 3/4 cup Hot water adjust as needed
  • 1/4 tsp Salt optional

Equipment

  • Rolling board and rolling pin
  • Tawa

Method

  1. Add jowar flour and salt to a bowl. Mix well.
  2. Pour hot water little by little and start mixing with a spoon first.
  3. When the dough cools slightly, knead it by hand until smooth and soft.
  4. Divide the dough into 2 balls. Dust with dry flour and gently roll into a medium-thin roti.
  5. Heat a tawa. Place the roti and cook until small bubbles appear. Flip and cook the other side.
  6. Press edges lightly with a cloth or spatula to help the roti puff. Remove when both sides have brown spots.
  7. Serve warm with dal, sabzi or curd.

Notes

Using hot water gives softer rotis. Always knead the dough fresh before making rotis as jowar dough dries quickly.
